Frozen Garlic and Onion Purees Save Time and Money [Food Hacks]
Some people end up buying and peeling an onion and a head of garlic when they only need a portion of that for their recipe and end up tossing the rest, only to need it again a few days later. Freezing a puree of garlic, onion, and olive oil means that not only do you avoid this wasteful routine, but you can prepare several months worth when the ingredients are on sale. More »

Have a geeky Valentine's Day

This Valentine’s day, try sending your geeky loved one a Google search query instead of an e-greeting and they may like the little surprise that’s in store for them.

The Heart Equation for Google

When you put any Math equation in Google, it will try to plot of a graph of that equation just like your scientific calculation. And one such equation, listed below, renders a heart curve that you can pass on to your Valentine.

To give it a try, just copy-paste the following query in Google. Thanks Suhel.

sqrt(cos(x))*cos(300x)+sqrt(abs(x))-0.7)*(4-x*x)^0.01, sqrt(6-x^2), -sqrt(6-x^2) from -4.5 to 4.5

Chiang Mai Flower Show

We went to the Chiang Mai Flower Show yesterday. It's a local affair,
- not the big flower expo that is also happening now. There was a
parade on Saturday morning which rivaled many floral parades in the
States. There were a dozen or do floats all decorated with the most
gorgeous tropical flowers. Many had religious themes with dragons and
fantasy characters covering them. Following the parade the floats were
all on display in a beautiful park setting for the tens of thousands
of families to walk through and shop for flowers and, of course, eat.
The families and other visitors (many foreign tourists included) laid
out picnic lunches on the grass and around the small lake in the
middle. All in all, a wonderful day.

Here are several photos of some of the floats. (People and food to follow).
